About Us / Fúinn

Since 1989 the Grealish family have established close links to music and the arts in Galway. The King’s Head has free live music seven nights a week on the main stage along with regular stand-up comedy and lunchtime theatre in the pocket-sized venue on the top floor. This commitment to the arts and entertainment is a cornerstone of the business.

The Grealish family have also, from day one, been committed to preserving and enhancing the medieval fabric of the building and researching its rich history. They have uncovered the medieval walls and restored the medieval windows. This ongoing process has been done in consultation and with the expertise of Jim Higgins, Heritage Officer for Galway City, Jackie Uí Chionna, Historian NUIG, and Paul Gosling, Archaeologist, among others.

A Message From The Grealish Family

"We both feel privileged to be custodians of this amazing pub! For us, it is and always has been a labour of love; something we are both passionate about. We are also thrilled that our three grown-up kids have all worked there since an early age and continue to make a valuable contribution to the family business. The survival and success of the business up until now has been down to a number of key factors - a commitment to the rich heritage of the building, a commitment to great food, drink and entertainment, our fantastic staff and our location in the wonderful city of Galway."
